Recap: Run She Is Beautiful Santa Barbara 2019

September 24, 2019

Another remarkable She is Beautiful race in Santa Barbara, CA is in the books! Bumbleride has now sponsored eight consecutive She is Beautiful races in both Santa Cruz, CA and Santa Barbara, CA and they just keep getting better. Beautiful clear skies, warm coastal weather and a sold out race give this event a foundation for fun but the added benefits of great like-minded sponsors, inspirational speakers and motivational quotes along the route are the icing on the cake. Race Founder Melissa and her sister Sara, Chief of Fun, bring so much joy, kindness and empowerment to this race. They are truly naturals at this and we are honored to continue sponsoring the Baby Mama Division.

Congratulations to Bumbleride Baby Mama Division winners: 10K – Cheri Glimp of Solvang and 5K – Kari Moran of our hometown of San Diego (@grrrlrunner)!

The winners of the 5k and 10k races in the Bumbleride Baby Mama Division walk away with a brand new Bumbleride Speed running stroller.  We love seeing all of the mamas out there with their strollers and their little passengers, showing their kids that movement and connection are key to a happy and healthy life.

Come out and join us in 2020!

Bumbleride Speed Jogging Stroller Review Women's Running Magazine

{This is an excerpt from Women’s Running Magazine’s Speed Review}

Bumbleride, a stroller company started in 2004, recently debuted its first dedicated running stroller, Speed ($549, bumbleride.com). I tested the stroller on runs with my 2-year-old son (about 30 pounds) on flat and hilly paved streets and one trail to evaluate Speed’s design, features and performance.

Design

The stroller features “Speed3 steering,” which includes three steering modes for different paces—the front wheel locked for running, locked at 30 degrees for jogging, and unlocked 360-degree movement for walking. Though I personally prefer to run with the front wheel unlocked or just partially locked, it was easy to transition between steering modes.

Features…..

Performance

The sturdy 16-inch rear wheels (air pump is included) and lightweight aluminum frame (24 pounds) made for a smooth ride that was a dream to push, even one-handed or up hills. The stroller handled effortlessly over different terrains and didn’t cause any complaints from my son. I have a tendency to use my jogging strollers for everyday walks or errands too, and the Speed transitioned perfectly. With the front wheel unlocked it swiveled incredibly smoothly and steered well around a crowded outdoor event, and it was narrow enough to fit down store aisles.

Summary

Overall, Speed is a fantastic running stroller. It is an investment, but it is clearly designed to meet the needs of runners, parents and their kids. It was one of the easiest strollers to push that I’ve run with and was a truly smooth ride for both me and my son. Highly recommend!

Cool Mom Picks – Best affordable jogging stroller? Reader Q + A

Best jogging stroller: Bumbleride Indie Stroller

Cool Mom Picks – Best affordable jogging stroller? Reader Q + A

Q: Hi Cool Mom Picks! Any recommendations on the best affordable jogging stroller that’s ideally lightweight, compact and versatile? -Pamela J.

A: Hi Pamela,

Though I will admit right off the bat that I am not a jogger, I have reviewed my share of jogging strollers and I have a few recommendations for the best ones that ought to give you a good start when looking. There’s one catch, though: Affordable and jogging stroller usually aren’t two phrases seen together. The best jogging strollers are definitely the priciest options, but they’re also the ones that last, which means you should have no trouble finding gently used options for much less on Craigslist, at a local garage sale, or as a hand-me-down from a friend in your community with older kids. Plus, if you find a jogging stroller you love, there’s no reason you can’t use it as your everyday stroller too, which will make the investment much easier to justify in the long run. (Heh. Long run.)

Whenever I ask my die-hard runner friends which stroller has been invaluable to them through their running-with-a-baby days, they always suggest the same few options…

Bumbleride Indie

“If looks matter to you, Bumbleride wins the prize for coolest looking stroller in the bunch. The Bumbleride Indie is a perfect do-everything stroller system that can truly be the only stroller you ever need to own. It lets you stroll or jog, all while keeping the baby extremely comfy with a surprisingly smooth ride in the sturdy frame.”

Baby Gizmo Spotlight Video Review: Bumbleride Mini Board

Baby Gizmo recently braved the cold to review our Mini Board with Indie! Here are a few highlights from their review along with her video review.

  • This skateboard-style board is a perfect way to extend the life of your Bumbleride Indie or Indie Twin to accommodate those growing toddlers who just want to catch a ride from time to time.
  • The Mini Board easily clamps to the frame of your Bumbleride stroller in seconds and features a slip-resistant deck for your toddler to stand on while they hold on to the handlebar.
  • We found that the two swivel wheels are very durable and gave it great maneuverability.
  • Since the board is designed for the toddler to stand inside the handlebar, at 5’5, I was happy to find out that the board didn’t get in the way of my stride as I walked.
  • You do have to remove the board from the stroller when folding, but the clamp system makes it super easy.

To get an up close and personal look at the Mini Board, take a peek at our full video review below.
