In 2013, we set a goal to make our products cleaner for your baby and better for the environment. While this may be a big undertaking, we’ve started by shifting the way our polyester fabrics are made. Every Bumbleride is now made with 50% recycled PET exterior fabric and 50% bamboo charcoal interior fabric. Polyesters are known for their durability and ability to stay vibrant.

Bumbleride Stroller Fabrics

What does it mean to use recycled PET?
PET (or polyethylene terephthalate) is a polyester that’s commonly used in packaging, like water bottles. All polyesters are made using synthetic fibers. However by breaking down, sterilizing and creating new fabric from existing material, we are able to take advantage of material that already exists, preventing the production of unnecessary material. It takes about 14 water bottles to produce one set of Indie fabric. One cubic yard of landfill space is conserved by recycling 4,800 water bottles. It may seem like a small amount, but it’s a start.

What does it mean to use bamboo charcoal?
Creating bamboo charcoal is a process that involves the breakdown of bamboo fibers into ultra-small nano particles that are infused into polyester fabric. Bamboo charcoal has excellent natural qualities like moisture absorption, temperature regulation and helps to prohibit bacterial growth in the seating area of your stroller. The result is a soft, durable fabric that not only looks good, but is also good for baby.
