5 Ways Bumbleride Makes Life Easier For The Active Mom – City Girl Gone Mom

“Lets face it, sticking to a work out schedule can be hard for anyone.  Add four kids, two dogs and a bad back to the mix, and it almost feels impossible.  The larger my world has become, the harder it is to exercise.  However, It’s time I find ways to burn some extra calories now that my seven month old is finally giving me a good night’s rest.

Thanks to Brody’s new ride, Indie by Bumbleride, there’s finally some light at the end of my chaotic tunnel.  I kid you not, the all terrain jogger has momma moving mountains… Okay, maybe not mountains, but I am certainly moving.

Bumbleride’s Indie all terrain jogger has set itself apart from the rest with its compact, lightweight frame.  I can honestly say in the nine years that I have pushing strollers, this jogger has to be the lightest.  It feels like I am pushing air, even on the toughest roads.  It has the smoothest push out of all the strollers I have had.  Dad agrees too.  With Southern California being very hilly, this lightweight jogger has been easy on my back.  I feel minimal pressure where it typically hurts the most when climbing those hills.  The 12 inch air-filled tires are just the right size.  And having all-wheel suspension makes this ride the Porsche of all joggers.

Even in the midst of a chaotic life, we are no strangers to lessening our carbon footprint on the planet.  We did that by having the first dental practice in San Diego that is certified Green.  I was happy to learn that Bumbleride cares about Mother Earth just like we do.  Their fabrics feature a 100% recycled polyester (rPET recycled post consumer water bottles).  This company is devoted to durability, safety and function, while simultaneously caring about the environment.  As a mom who cares about our planet, I feel great knowing that this is my go-to stroller.  It also gives me another opportunity to chat with my older kids about  why they, too, should care.”

After two weeks with the Indie, I can confidently say that from birth to the toddler years, the Indie is all you need.  I have thoroughly enjoyed this stroller, mainly because we are a very active family, and it was more than compatible with all of our outings. Whether trekking to and from Petco Park, onto the beach, or exercising on rocks and pavement, this is now our go-to stroller.  I like to refer to it as the “perfect Schaffer lifestyle stroller”.  Nine years ago when Jackson was born, we loved the Queen B Pram by Bumbleride.  I am grateful to have had the chance to do this four times now — with my brood and Bumbleride.

Gear Review: Bumbleride Indie Stroller Review

Tales of a Mountain Family recently put Indie to the test around their home in Yellowstone National Park . Here are a few of the highlights from their review:

  • “The stroller weighs only 20 pounds, which is relatively light compared to other jogging strollers on the market.”
  • “The Indie is unique on the market because it does fit children from birth (using the included car seat adapter) through preschool age (weight limit: 45 pounds) AND adapts to those “in between” infant/toddler ages with a seat that reclines completely flat for easy napping. “

What I loved

  • “Very light (20 pounds) and maneuverable.  The front wheel that locks with a simple mechanism makes switching between strolling and running very easy”
  • “The reclining backrest can be set at almost any height to allow for comfort for any ages of child.  It can be reclined to lay completely flat for comfortable sleeping too.”
  • ” The adjustable foot rest also allows for the best comfort I’ve seen for multiple ages of kids”
  • “The adjustable handlebar is AWESOME for switching between different heights of pushers.  In fact, it can be lowered far enough down that the 4 year old can reach it to push.”

Another Opinion

“We love to share our gear and let others test and report back to us too.  Here’s what Wendie and her 6 month old daughter (about 13 pounds) thought of it:”

“I was very impressed by how adjustable/customizable this stroller was. It was very easy to snap into place, and it had a lot of “bells and whistles” that I loved. It handled well during our 3-mile run which was mostly on pavement, and Alex was still smiling when we finished. For someone who wants one piece of equipment to serve as both an everyday stroller and a jog stroller, I think it has a lot to offer. I wouldn’t take it out running on gravel roads or overly rough surfaces, but I think I would be fine running with it on a smoother trail system (i.e. finely crushed gravel).”

The Bottom Line

  • “The Indie is a great stroller that fits most families that want to be able to stroll over most terrain, do some running and have it be lightweight and comfortable for their child. It is one of the lightest on the market and fits easily in the back of a car. It truly is all-terrain and we have easily strolled through snow conditions, along with dirt paths and paved roads, of course.”
  • “We love how it is possible to have the child reclining at any angle and that , on the Indie Twin, kids can recline separately.”
  • “We wish the straps were easier to change heights for different kids (because we are always switching out who is riding.) This is the reason we only gave it 4 stars (though if we could, we’d give it 4.5.”

Baby Gizmo Spotlight Video Review: Bumbleride Mini Board

Baby Gizmo recently braved the cold to review our Mini Board with Indie! Here are a few highlights from their review along with her video review.

  • This skateboard-style board is a perfect way to extend the life of your Bumbleride Indie or Indie Twin to accommodate those growing toddlers who just want to catch a ride from time to time.
  • The Mini Board easily clamps to the frame of your Bumbleride stroller in seconds and features a slip-resistant deck for your toddler to stand on while they hold on to the handlebar.
  • We found that the two swivel wheels are very durable and gave it great maneuverability.
  • Since the board is designed for the toddler to stand inside the handlebar, at 5’5, I was happy to find out that the board didn’t get in the way of my stride as I walked.
  • You do have to remove the board from the stroller when folding, but the clamp system makes it super easy.

Open Air Life – Bumbleride Indie Stroller Review

Open Air Life Bumbleride Indie Off Road Stroller Review

Bumbleride Indie Stroller

There are a few strollers I really like that fit into the all-terrain category, but the Bumbleride Indie definitely fits that category.  This little stroller can go almost anywhere without much trouble.  I’ve been on grass, dirt, concrete, rocks, even boardwalks and the ride is still smooth enough to keep your toddler sleeping.  The front wheel also locks making it a great jogging stroller.  It can also take a lot of use and even a lot of tossing around.

Bumbleride Indie Stroller Folded

There are so many strollers on the market these days that finding the right one for you can be a daunting task.  When choosing a stroller for your lifestyle, there is more to consider than you might think.  You may want to ask yourself several questions before you even set foot into a store.  Start with the simple question, where are my going to use this stroller the most?  Are you going to use it at the mall, or are you going to be off road, in the mountains, the dirt, or anywhere other than pavement?  If you are like us, you want a stroller that can handle most anything you throw at it.

Any mother of 3 would tell you that you don’t have a lot of time to carefully fold a stroller and gently set it into your car, or wherever you are going.  You need to take care of it fast.  When this stroller is folded, you can easily lift it with one hand to toss it into your car, or set it where you need to put it up.  The stroller is locked closed tightly so it won’t be stretching out while you carrying it around.  One down side to this stroller is that it does take two hands to fold up the stroller, so you can’t have a baby on your hips as you fold it and put it away.

The Bumbleride has great functionality.  There has been a lot of thought put into this stroller, such as the addition of an adjustable handle.  Not everyone is the same height and you won’t have to worry about that.  No more hunching over for you tall people.  They have also made sure that the basket is very roomy for all your baby needs.

Bumbleride Indie 5 point Harness

Everything on this stroller is adjustable to fit your baby/toddler’s needs.  There is a great 5 point harness that has easily detachable shoulder straps for your older children.  The foot rest is adjustable for little feet, or sleeping baby.  The backrest lays flat for sleeping baby or toddler.  The only downside to this feature is that you can’t get the backrest to sit up straight for your older children.  This can be fixed using a belt to keep it straight.

Overall this stroller is a great buy and worth the extra money for the great durability.  You can get several handy accessories for this stroller such as a car seat adapter, a rain cover, and several more.  I would recommend this stroller for anyone who is looking for a stroller to last through a few children with a lot of great use.
